Ten years on from the launch of its progressive conversion to  organics, Château Pédesclaux is proud to unveil the inaugural, organically-certified vintage En Primeur. While not an end point, organic certification for its vineyards is an integral part of a global environmental drive, and just one of a series of initiatives forming part of the estate’s green agenda.

Since acquiring the chateau in 2009, the Lorenzetti family have strived to use all means necessary to revitalise life in the soils and restore general harmony, with the sole aim of revealing the full expression and potential of this Pauillac terroir. The first organic trials were launched in 2012 and biodynamic trials soon followed.

Manon Lorenzetti’s involvement in 2018 helped speed up this transition to more environmentally-friendly and sustainable viticulture. The official conversion of Château Pédesclaux began in 2019, resulting in organic certification with the 2022 vintage.

For Jacky Lorenzetti, organic is an ‘unwavering commitment and a duty’. The new impetus provided by certification was to be reflected in a change of label.

The redesign took inspiration from the House archives to remain consistent with existing labels and distinctive artisanal printing techniques. The intricacy of the engraved design, portraying in great detail the property’s architecture, is a nod to the rigorous attention to detail implemented in both vineyard and winery.

The brand block thus asserts itself with strength and elegance, proudly claiming the certification of the estate, a first for a Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
